Jane (Starkenberg) Helms-Price, 57, of Volga, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Brookings hospital.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Reformed Church in Volga with burial in Trinity Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to the funeral. Eidsness Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Jane was born Oct. 28, 1959, at Pine Ridge. She was adopted on Aug. 23, 1960, by Sidney and Ruby Starkenberg. She grew up in Volga, and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1977.
Jane married Gary Helms in 1981. They were blessed with Jane’s first son, Cullen Helms. Jane married Brian Price in 1997. They were blessed with Jane’s second son, Jonah Price. Jane’s sons were everything to her. She cherished them very much.
Jane was an extremely hard worker. She worked for Falcon Plastics and Hot Stuff Pizza. Ill health forced her to retire early. Jane had an extensive collection of purses. She also collected candles. Jane had a passion for craft fairs, and looked forward to the Brookings Summer Arts Festival every year. She also enjoyed reading, coloring, and doing crafts.
Survivors include; her sons, Cullen Helms and Jonah Price of Volga; sisters, Teresa Fischer (Gayland) of Sioux City and Jill Reed of Sioux Falls; a granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
