Funeral services for Janice M. Fredrickson, 76, of Chamberlain, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the River Hills Fellowship in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.  Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Monday with family present at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Janice Marlene Easterby was born May 23, 1942, in Andover to Silas and Lorraine (Simonson) Easterby.  She attended grade school at Andover and graduated from Andover High School in 1960 as valedictorian.  Janice was united in marriage to Lawrence F. Fredrickson on July 11, 1964 at Andover.  She lived in several towns with her husband and three children Ken, Sherry, and Lori, primarily in Webster, Brookings, and later settled in Chamberlain in 1978 with Larry’s job as a biologist with the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks.  She excelled at bookkeeping and secretarial jobs and worked for Brookings Live Stock Auction, Larson Law Firm in Chamberlain, and St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain to name a few.

Janice enjoyed many church activities and was always the first to volunteer for events or projects.  She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club and along with Larry loved serving children by being an AWANA leader.  As well as playing the piano and saxophone, she loved to garden, sew, bake and go Saturday fishing with her husband.  Above all, she was an amazing grandmother to her eight grandchildren, who could hardly wait to spend time with her.

Janice went to Heaven on May 20, 2019 at the age of 76 years. She passed away peacefully after a long battle with alzheimer’s while at Edgewood Memory Care in Mitchell, SD.  Gratefully sharing her life are her husband Larry F. Fredrickson of Chamberlain; a son Ken Fredrickson of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters Sherry (Darrell) Eiseman of Brookings and Lori (Michael) Harris of Waukee, IA; two sisters Ardyce (Ray) Brodersen of Texas and Audrey Schwartz of Blaine of Washington; a brother Marvin (Claudia) Easterby of California; grandchildren Richard (Sherri), Larry, Tenishia, Chanel (Joe), Spencer, Sydney, Cameron, and Hayden; great grandchildren Lilah and Riker; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers Donald and Gerald, grandson Logan, and great granddaughter Gabriella.
