BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls Roosevelt junior Jack Lundin fired a 4-under-par 68 to earn medalist honors as the Rough Riders swept the top three spots on the individual leaderboard to easily take the team title during the Brookings Invitational on a pleasant Monday at Brookings Country Club.

Lundin, who began his round on the 16th hole, shot 34 on both nines.

He birdied Nos. 1, 2, 6, 14 and 18 – playing the par-5s in 3-under – and had a bogey at the par-4 ninth.

Garett Everson was runner-up following a round of 2-under 70 and fellow-sophomore Jack Eggebraaten carded a 1-under 71 to place third.

Everson, who began the day at the 15th, made four birdies (Nos. 3, 5, 15 and 18) and a pair of bogeys (Nos. 6 and 16) while shooting a pair of 35s.

Eggebraaten started on No. 14, and shot 36 on the front nine and 35 on the back. He had two birds (Nos. 14 and 2) and one bogey (No. 6).

Roosevelt carded an even-par 288 as a team, with Roland Siverling adding a 79 to tie for 20th and complete the tally.

Rapid City Stevens finished second at 304.

Harrisburg (308), Yankton (309) and Sioux Falls Lincoln (312) took third through fifth, respectively.

Brookings tied for 13th with Madison at 345.

The Raiders’ John Young placed fourth at even-par 72.

Stevens’ Ben Daane, Aberdeen Central’s Ethan Vikander and Harrisburg’s Tyson Kogel tied for fifth with 73s.

Harrisburg’s Will Allen (75) was eighth. Lincoln’s Nash Stenberg and Luke Honner, Yankton’s Austin Frick and Landon Moe, Madison’s Braden Elmers and Tea Area’s Brock Murphy all shot 76 to tie for ninth.

Zachary Curd of Sioux Falls O’Gorman rounded out the top 15 with a 77.

Yankton’s Michael Frick, Mitchell’s Ethan Huber, Stevens’ Jonah Swartz and O’Gorman’s Phil Enderson tied for 16th at 78.

Six golfers tied for 20th at 79, while 12 others finished in a tie for 26th with 80s.

Jesse Roberts paced the host Bobcats with an 81, putting him a tie for 38th.

The freshman chipped in for birdie at the ninth and also birdied his final hole of the day – No. 2.

Jordan Svobodny shot 86 and tied for 57th. Alec Rice ended up in a tie for 71st at 88. Drew Cole tied for 78th with a 90 to complete the team score.

“Overall, I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping some of the scores were going to be a bit lower for the guys at our home course; but it was awesome to see a freshman like Jesse come in at 81,” said BHS coach Andy Lee. “He was within just a few strokes of medaling.

“I think as a team we just need to eliminate those ‘blow up’ holes; it seems like when that happens it is hard to come back on the next hole or even the rest of the round. Short memory is so important for golf and now we can just move on from this and get better for the state tournament.”

Also for Brookings, Ryan Treiber (91) tied for 81st and Ashton Witte (102) finished 101st.

The tourney featured 17 teams and 104 individuals.

The Mitchell Invitational is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeview.
