BROOKINGS – Century 21 posted an 11-1 victory over First Bankt & Trust to win the Brookings Friends of Baseball Majors Championship on Thursday night.

Century 21 downs First Bank & Trust

BROOKINGS – Century 21 posted an 11-1 victory over First Bankt & Trust to win the Brookings Friends of Baseball Majors Championship on Thursday night.

Century 21 jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first highlighted by back-to-back home runs by Jack Merritt and Breck Hirrschoff. Merritt added a two-RBI double in the second that scored Evan Cyphert and Maxwell Engebretson. 

First Bank and Trust scored in the fourth on a RBI single by Ethan Clifford that plated Blake Waterman.  

Century 21 added two more runs in the fourth highlighted by Will Bauer’s triple.

In the fifth, Engebretson added a two-RBI single that scored Jackson Cunningham and Luke Hanson. 

Merritt led Century 21 with three hits and four RBIs. Hirrschoff and Engebretson each added two hits and two RBIs. 

Merritt picked up the win on the mound as he didn’t allow a hit and struck out five in three innings. Bauer struck out four in two innings of relief. 

Griffin Bartels pitched two innings with three strikeouts for First Bank and Trust. Clifford struck out six over the final three innings.

Pizza Ranch defeated CF Promo in the third-place game.
