Marjorie Kessler, 89, of Brookings, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at the United Living Community in Brookings. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings at 11 a.m.Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings at a future date. Marjorie’s service will also be uploaded to the Eidsness Funeral Home website on Saturday afternoon for those who wish to view the service from home. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting Marjorie’s family with arrangements.
Marjorie was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a graduate of Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended Christian College in Columbia, MO and Oklahoma A & M College.
In 1957, she married William Kessler and ultimately resided in Brookings, SD. Marjorie lived a fulfilling life as a wife and mother. She was an avid reader and loved watching Lawrence Welk and As The World Turns. She attended Brookings United Church of Christ where she enjoyed fellowship, kindness and support. Marjorie will be greatly missed for her sense of humor and laughter.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Dan) Bacon of Louisville, KY; son Gary (Carole) Kessler of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren Alexa, Layne and Seth Bacon of Louisville KY and Michael Absher of Golden, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, parents, Otis and Clarice Howard and sister, Betty Lou Howard.
