Marjorie Schulte, 87, Emery, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin Catholic Church in Emery. Burial is at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Emery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday the church with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with the Hettinger Bittner Funeral Chapel in Emery.

Marjorie Mary Schulte was born May 16, 1931, at St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell to Anthony and Veronica (Schiltz) Ruden. She attended St. Martin Catholic grade school and graduated from Emery High School. Before getting married she worked at St. Joseph Hospital. On Jan. 15, 1951, she married Virgil Schulte. They farmed in the Emery area for many years. Margie was a homemaker, raised eight children and provided daycare in their home for many years. In retirement they spent many summers traveling across the country in their motorhome. Margie was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Martin Catholic Church, where she served the church in many capacities and took great pride in caring for the Altar and Sacristy.

She is survived by her eight children: Tom (Carol) Schulte of Sioux Falls, Mary (Mitch) Wilcox of Emery, Terry Schulte of Sioux Falls, Jane (Jay) Narverud of Burnsville, Minnesota, Jon (Nancy) Schulte of Sioux Falls, Christi (Kevin) Schnabel of Emery, Dan (Sarah) Schulte of Brookings and Joe (Mary) Schulte of Brookings, 36 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, along with many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, Jerry (Angie) Ruden of Memphis, Tennessee, sisters, Carol Jones of Meridian, Idaho, Paula (Bernie) Wolosyn of Goodman, Wisconsin, and dear friend and caregiver, Joyce Erickson of Emery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; brother, Dan; two grandchildren and brother-in-law, Gary Jones.
