Mary K. Bruns, 88, of Corsica, formerly of Burke, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society-Corsica.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, with burial in First Presbyterian Cemetery in Flandreau. Visitation is 5–7 p.m. Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
Mary Kathryn (Robb) Bruns was born June 10, 1929, in Sioux Falls to Weldon and Rose (Madel) Robb. She received her early education in Sioux Falls and completed it in Flandreau. Mary married Edward Bruns on Dec. 19, 1949, and they had seven children. After their marriage, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska.
Mary returned to Flandreau in 1963, and she worked in the kitchen at the Flandreau Indian School and then at the Flandreau Hospital in the laundry department until 1978 when she moved to Burke.
Mary is survived by daughters, Cindy Bruns of Burke and Gail (Doug) Ulmer of Herrick; sons, Gerald Bruns of Anchorage, Alaska, Ronald Bruns, Burke and Russell (Debi) Bruns of Rapid City; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Lester Bisson, Jr., Flandreau.
Mary was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Glen Bruns, daughter-in-law Ann Bruns, great-grandson Levi Bruns, and four sisters, Ellen Aungie, Arlene Hoffmann, Isabelle Cox and Peggy Bisson.
