Mary Jane Bunker, 84, of Flandreau, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Edgewood Vista in Flandreau.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.
Mary was born Oct. 24, 1933, at Egan to Herman and Bertha (Bauer) Crow. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1951.
Mary then married Leslie Wenge in Dell Rapids on Oct. 15, 1952, and raised six daughters. They resided on a farm east of Flandreau until Leslie died Aug. 30, 1975.
Mary married Frank Bunker in Flandreau on May 21, 1988. They were married for 29 years until Frank’s death on October 10, 2017.
Mary was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and Altar Society. In her free time, she enjoyed needlework, gardening and baking.
She is survived by six daughters, Monica (Roger) Nieman of Omaha, Nebraska, Cindy (Jerry) Schwebach of Brandon, Jani (Mike) Schmidt, Jacksonville, Florida, Cheryl (Gene) Reaves, Brandon, Sheila (Todd) Rose of Watertown, Dawn (Randy) Sibson of Vermillion; four step-children, Richard “Dick” (Sharon) Bunker of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Rosemary “Rosie” Schipper of Yuma, Arizona, Keith and Brian Bunker, both of Flandreau; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; two sisters, Isabelle Gannon of Tea and Berniece Speckels of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her husbands, one stepson, one grandson, one step-grandson and two sisters.
