Michael W. Harrison, 67, of Volga, , formerly of Voorhees, N.J., died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

Memorial services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at HOPE Church in Voorhees, N.J. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, in Brookingsor HOPE Church in Voorhees, N.J.

Michael W. Harrison was born on Feb. 16, 1951 in Teaneck, N.J. the son of Michael E. and Helene (Talkenberger) Harrison. He grew up in Cherry Hill, N.J.,attended Cherry Hill West High School, graduating in 1969. 

He attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., where he received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1973.  He married Alice Campbell on Aug. 18, 1973, in Grove City. 

He began teaching at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, N.J., where he spent his entire 42 year career, retiring in 2015. Throughout his years teaching, he continued his own education obtaining his master’s degree at Glassboro State College, in Glassboro, N.J. In retirement, he and Alice moved to an acreage near Volga, where he resided until his death.

 Mike enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid sports fan, following all the Philadelphia sports teams. 

He aggressively extended his knowledge in computers and software, creating his own PowerPoints for his teaching curriculum; he took great pride in following his former students in their career paths. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with his family.

 He is survived by his wife, Alice Harrison of Volga; his two children, Jennifer (Mark), of Bruce and Greg (Ashlie) of Stratford, N.J.; four grandchildren; one sister, Joan (David) Hart, of McLean, Va.; one brother, Donald (Lois) Harrison, of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; mother-in-law, Evelyn Campbell of Brookings; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, James Campbell.
