BROOKINGS – Mitchell posted a team score of 143.6 points to win the Brookings Triangular on Thursday at Bob Jostad Gymnasium, as Madison (138.1) finished second and the host Bobcats (137.6) were third.

Mitchell wins Brookings Triangular

BROOKINGS – Mitchell posted a team score of 143.6 points to win the Brookings Triangular on Thursday at Bob Jostad Gymnasium, as Madison (138.1) finished second and the host Bobcats (137.6) were third.

The Kernels’ Maria Krall won the all-around with a 36.95 total.

The Lady Bulldogs’ Jenni Giles was a close second at 36.85, while Mitchell’s Josie Dierks (36.55) ended up third.

Rachel Gannon paced Brookings with a 34.75, putting her in fourth. Teammate Maci Law ended up in a tie for fifth with Mitchell’s Alyssa Hughes at 34.65.

Krall was tops on the bars, beam and floor after earning a score of 9.35 in each event.

Dierks and teammate Bailey Roden tied for first on the vault at 9.2.

Law had the Bobcats’ best finish, taking fourth on the beam with a 9.0. Cydne Munson (8.9) was fifth, Courtney Koisti (8.8) sixth and Gannon (8.65) tied for seventh.

Gannon and Munson tied for sixth on the vault with matching 8.6s. Ava Wakeman, Casey Johnson and Law tied for eighth at 8.5.

In the floor exercise, Johnson was seventh with a 9.0, followed by Gannon (8.95) in eighth and Law (8.85) in ninth.

Gannon paced the Bobcats on the bars with a sixth-place showing with a score of 8.55. Munson (8.45) ended up seventh and Law (8.3) tied for eighth.

Also in the all-around, Munson (34.2) was ninth, Koisti (33.05) 11th, Wakeman (31.6) 12th, Johnson (31.3) 13th and Erin Hulberg (27.65) 14th.

The Eastern South Dakota Conference meet is Thursday at 4 p.m. in Yankton.
