Neta Martha Fish was born July 5, 1935, in White, to John and Myrtle (Ruehl) Fish. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in White.  She attended all 12 years of schooling in White and graduated with the class of 1953.

Neta married Allan “Bud” Anderson on Oct. 25, 1954, in Tyler, Minn. They made their home in Toronto until May of 1955 when they moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., for two years and in 1957 moved back to South Dakota. In 1961 they moved to Mansfield, when Bud became manager of GTA Elevator there.

Neta was a member of the Trinity Ladies Aid, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Birthday Club for many years. She bowled for nearly 40 years, was secretary of the Flower Garden Bowling League for many years and participated in numerous state bowling tournaments.

Neta liked putting puzzles together and was an avid reader. The last few years have been spent on genealogy albums for both the Fish and Anderson families, tracing them back several generations. A favorite pastime of hers was making crafts and doing embroidery work. She entered them in the Brown County Fair and won hundreds of ribbons. Neta was always very proud of her garden and her flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and always had her camera handy.

Grateful for having shared Neta’s life are her husband: Bud Anderson, Mansfield; her sons: David Anderson, Yakima, Wash., Randy Anderson, Fargo, N.D.; daughters: Cathy Sommer, Fargo, N.D., Carol (Brad) Merkel, Forbes, N.D., Cheryl Anderson, Wheat Ridge, Colo., Colleen (Wayde) Anderson, Forsyth, Mont., and Janine (Phil) Blosser, Elkhart, Ind; 12 grandchildren: Jeffrey Johnson, Christopher Onkka, Kari (Adam) Ehrk, Laura Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Eric Fink, Nathan (Jessica) Fink, Justin Fink, Shana Gast, Nicholas Gast, Michele Fritz and Stephanie Fritz; three great-grandchildren: Layne Johnson, Bryce Ehrk and Leah Martin; and her sister, Karen (Arnold) George.
