SIOUX CENTER/BROOKINGS – The Rangers capped off a 3-0 weekend with a 3-0 SDAHA win over Mitchell on Sunday at Larson Ice Center. On Friday, Brookings downed Sioux Center, 11-1, and skated to a 9-0 win over the Storm on Saturday.

Rangers shut out Mitchell, 3-0, at LIC

SIOUX CENTER/BROOKINGS – The Rangers capped off a 3-0 weekend with a 3-0 SDAHA win over Mitchell on Sunday at Larson Ice Center. On Friday, Brookings downed Sioux Center, 11-1, and skated to a 9-0 win over the Storm on Saturday.

The three wins push the Rangers’ record to 17-4 and they finished second in the league standings with 34 points. Aberdeen won the regular-season title with an unblemished 21-0 mark (42 points).

• Rangers 3, Mitchell 0

The Rangers netted two goals in the first period and then tacked on an insurance goal in the third as Jaden Runge stopped seven shots for the shutout win in goal.

Brooklyn Roberts tallied the first goal, with Carlie Kruse and Montana Myer earning the assists, five minutes into the game.

Bethany Rennich lit the lamp with 2:12 to play to send the Rangers into the first intermission up 2-0 as Myer picked up another assist.

Jordyn Peterson’s unassisted goal with 34 seconds left in the game provided for the final margin as Brookings held a 62-7 advantage in shots.

• Rangers 9, Sioux Center 0

The Rangers scored three goals in the first; added one in the second; and then, tacked on five more in the third as Runge stopped one Storm shot for the shutout win in goal.

Jadyn Peterson found the back of the net 3 1/2 minutes into the game off a Rennich assist before Jordyn Peterson scored twice – the first set up by Jadyn Peterson and Rennich and the second unassisted.

Jadyn Peterson tallied the only goal of the second period as Klara Beinhorn and Jordyn Peterson picked up the assists.

Beinhorn scored back-to-back goals in the third – the first unassisted and the second set up by Jordyn Peterson – before Jordyn Peterson netted the puck for a hat trick, set up by McKenna Geraets.

Brooke Piearson lit the lamp off a Brooklyn Roberts’ assist and then Rennich scored with just over four minutes left off another Roberts’ assist as the Rangers finished with 56 shots for the game.

• Rangers 11, Sioux Center 1

Brookings built a 6-0 lead with four goals in the first period and two more in the second before the Storm got on the scoreboard.

The Rangers answered that goal to lead 7-1 through two, and then tacked on four more goals in the third.

Rennich opened the scoring 77 seconds into the match off a Jordyn Peterson assist and then Jadyn Peterson sandwiched a pair of goals around an unassisted Jordyn Peterson tally for the 4-0 lead after one. Beinhorn and Jordyn Peterson set up Jadyn’s first goal and Beinhorn assisted on her second.

Jordyn Peterson notched another unassisted tally to open the second before Jadyn Peterson scored a short-handed goal off another Beinhorn assist.

Mackinzie Van Voorst scored for Sioux Center as Sarah Vander Werf picked up the assist but Kruse answered off a Savannah Barber setup to make it 7-1 through two.

Jadyn Peterson sandwiched a pair of goals around a Barber goal and then Jordyn Peterson lit the lamp for the 11-1 final. Beinhorn set up Jadyn’s first goal and Alexis Schelske assisted on the second. Janaya Kuehl assisted Barber and Jadyn Peterson set up her Jordyn’s goal.

Brookings outshot the Storm, 62-6, as Runge finished with five saves.
