Rick Grimlie, age 64, of Toronto, died Wednesday, Dec.19, 2018, at his residence.
Memorial services are at 4 p.m. Saturday, at Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto. Burial is at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Astoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Houseman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Richard “Rick” John Grimlie was born on Dec. 1, 1954, to Arthur and Judith (Lokkeberg) Grimlie in Hendricks, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm near Astoria, where he received his education. Rick graduated from Astoria High School in 1973.
Rick married Linda Nelson on Dec. 6, 1975. Following their marriage, they lived in Brookings, where he worked for the Brookings Lake telephone company. In 1978, the company merged with ITC where he worked in Chester and Brookings before moving to Toronto in 1989. In 1998, Rick and Linda started their own company in Toronto,, R & L Splicing which is still in operation.
