Robert “Bob” Kampmann, age 87, passed away on Dec. 20, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Burial will take place immediately following the service at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. the evening prior, Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Bob Kampmann was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Galva, Iowa, to Fred C. And Affie H. (Moulton) Kampmann. On March 29, 1956, he married Mariann Krogmann. Bob farmed with his dad on the family farm in Elkton, SD until 1977. In 1978, he started work with Foundation Seed at South Dakota State University and retired from there in 2000. Throughout Bob’s life, his love for the land and farming was very apparent.
He enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and sunshine. After retirement, Bob and his wife often took drives in the local countryside checking on the progress of planting and harvesting of crops.
Survivors include his wife, Mariann; four children: Karen Kampmann, Teresa (Koss) Delfinis, Bonnie Kampmann and Daniel Kampmann, all of Brookings; four grandchildren: Kristina (Jamie) Phillips of Aurora, SD, Brandy (Mike) Weber of Brookings, SD, Anthony (Mona) Kampmann of Sioux Falls, SD, and Karla (Ryan) Vomacka of Gillette, WY; five great-grandchildren: Brady Kampmann of Aurora, SD, Angelique Kampmann of Lincoln, NE, Evan Vomacka of Duluth, GA, Gavin Vomacka of Gillette, WY, and Mischa Janssen of Brookings, SD; a sister, Carol Evenhuis of Olympia, WA; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard and Calvin Kampmann; and a nephew, Dennis Kampmann.
