Ryan Matthew Halvorson, age 29, of Alexandria, MN, and formerly of Brookings, SD, passed away on Sept. 14, 2022, due to an automobile accident.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
The family has decided to have an open service to the public.
Ryan was born on Oct. 16, 1992, to Allan and Margaret Ann (Schuelke) Halvorson in Brookings, SD. Ryan was loved and cherished by all of his family. He will be missed on this earth, but we know he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. He attended grade school and graduated from Brookings High School in 2011. Ryan fought valiantly with mental illness.
After high school, Ryan attended Mankato State, SDSU, and USD. He was employed by the SDSU Dairy Unit and then for Hintz Construction. Ryan also had his own mowing service during his high school years.
Ryan was a member of GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings, where he participated in youth group and attended many church camp outings. In his younger years, Ryan was also a member of the Boy Scouts.
Ryan loved sports. He especially loved the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Michigan Wolverines. He participated in middle and high school football. Ryan was also a soccer player, where he participated in a summer traveling league.
Survivors include his parents, Allan and Margaret Ann Halvorson of Alexandria, MN; his brother, Tyler (Ashley) Halvorson of Evansville, MN; nephews: Hudson, Wyatt and Sawyer Halvorson; his grandmother, LaVonne Halvorson; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Ellanora Schuelke and Curtis Halvorson.
