State champion middle distance runner Thailan Hallman has signed a National Letter of Intent, indicating he will enroll at South Dakota State University this fall and compete for the Jackrabbits' track and field teams.
An Alexandria native, Hallman posted the fastest time among all 800-meter runners at this year's South Dakota state championships, winning the Class B title in a time of 1 minute, 57.89 seconds in helping lead Hanson High School to the team title. Hallman set another school record in the 400-meter dash with a state runner-up time of 49.58 seconds.
In addition to excelling on the track, Hallman was a first-team all-conference defensive end in football this past fall. He plans to major in civil engineering.
