The South Dakota volleyball team is heading to the Summit League Tournament for the first time since 2010. The Jackrabbits finished the regular season with a pair of wins over North Dakota State and North Dakota.

SDSU volleyball headed to postseason

The South Dakota volleyball team is heading to the Summit League Tournament for the first time since 2010. The Jackrabbits finished the regular season with a pair of wins over North Dakota State and North Dakota.

The Jackrabbits finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-11 and they were 10-8 in the Summit League. It was the first time since 2012 that the Jacks finished the season with a winning record.

This is just third time that SDSU will participate in the Summit League Tournament. The Jacks will be the No. 6 seed and will take on Denver in the first round on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Vermillion.

Thursday

 SDSU 3, NDSU 1

The Jacks won a close first set 26-24. The Bison responded with a 25-21 win in set two. The Jacks would then win sets three and four each by the score of 25-19 and won the match.

SDSU had 54 kills and 68 digs. The Jacks had 47 assists, 10 service aces and eight blocks. NDSU had 49 kills and 69 digs. The Bison had 44 assists, 14 blocks and four service aces.

Crystal Burk led the way for the Jacks with 20 kills and 12 digs. Chloe Stitt had 13 kills, 11 digs and three service aces. Jasmine Weidemann had 24 assists and 15 digs. Carly Wedel had 17 assists and Tatum Pickar had 17 digs. Ella Thompson had seven kills.

NDSU was led by Ali Hinze who had 15 kills and 10 digs. Syra Tanchin had 13 kills and Michelle Glover had 10. Taylor Quan had 17 digs and Ava Schmoll had 13. Raegen Reilly had 35 assists and 11 digs.

Saturday

 SDSU 3, UND 0

The Jacks opened the match with a tight 25-23 victory. SDSU then won the next two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-16. It was the first time the Jacks swept an opponent since Oct. 9 when they swept St. Thomas and it was the eighth time this season that came away with a sweep.

SDSU had 45 kills and 62 digs. The Jacks had 41 assists and six service aces. The Fighting Hawks had 39 kills and 48 digs. UND had 39 assists.

Stitt led the Jacks with 13 kills and 14 digs. Burk and Thompson each had eight kills. Burk also had 10 digs. Jasmine Weidemann had 20 assists and Weel had 16. Pickar had 15 digs. Elyse Winter had four kills and six digs.

Abi McGlynn had eight kills and four digs. Madi Hart had 13 digs and seven assists. Darian Chwialkowski had eight digs. Peyton Sewell had 14 assists and Kortney Carney had 13.
