TULSA, Okla. – The South Dakota State women’s basketball team remained undefeated in Summit League play with a 77-70 win at Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
The Jackrabbits (14-4, 4-0) were led by Macy Miller’s game-high 26 points. The junior was 11-of-18 from the field, and collected seven rebounds and four assists.
Madison Guebert netted 17 points and had three 3-pointers. Alexis Alexander added 12 points, a career- and game-high eight rebounds and four assists.
Oral Roberts (11-7, 3-2) was led by Faith Ihim’s 24 points. Maya Mayberry added 16 points and Maria Martianez 15.
SDSU led 16-12 after a quarter, before the Golden Eagles used a 13-2 run to move ahead 25-18. The Jackrabbits answered with a 10-0 spurt with Myah Selland giving the Jackrabbits a three-point lead at 28-25 with a layup with 1:43 left. Miller gave SDSU a 34-33 lead at halftime with a jumper before the buzzer.
Leading 57-55 through three, the Jackrabbits used an 11-4 run to start the fourth quarter to take a 68-59 lead with 5:02 to play. Guebert scored six points in the run, including a pair of run-out layups.
Notes: Miller recorded her eighth 20-point game of the season and 21st of her career. ... Miller moved from 13th to 11th in career poionts at SDSU with 1,431, passing Nancy Joyce (1,411 from 1976-80) and Tara Tessier (1,424 from 1984-88). ... Guebert (1,123) is 33rd in career points and Ellie Thompson (1,104) sits in 34th. ... SDSU coach Aaron Johnston is now tied with former ORU head coach Jerry Finkbeiner for most Summit League victories – 144.
