For the 11th time, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team is on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Team Honor Roll, placing eighth among NCAA Division I programs, officials from the WBCA announced Tuesday.
The Jackrabbits, coached by Aaron Johnston, compiled a 3.641 team GPA during the 2017-18 academic year. SDSU was one of three Summit League teams (South Dakota, North Dakota State) named to the honor roll.
SDSU led all divisions of women’s college basketball three consecutive seasons from 2005-06 through 2007-08. The Jackrabbits added their fourth D-I team academic title after the 2010-11 season.
The Jacks boast a league-leading:
8 Academic All-Summit League honorees; 5 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans; 3 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winners; 3 SDSU Team Academic Awards; and a 3.48 cumulative team GPA during Johnston’s 18 years.
