BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls Post 15 East 16U swept a youth baseball doubleheader from the Bullets on Tuesday, winning 15-1 and 14-5 at Bob Shelden Field.
Brookings (4-9) plays host to Sioux Falls West 16U in a doubleheader Thursday at 5 p.m.
Game 1
• Sioux Falls East 15, Brookings 1 (5 inn.)
Jacob Glovich tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and six walks, and also went 2-for-3 with four RBIs at the plate to lead Sioux Falls East to the victory.
Dayne Bartels finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
Logan Bakker was 2-for-3 with an RBI and four runs. Garrett Winblade doubled, singled and totaled two RBIs.
The visitors scored two runs in the first inning before tacking on four in both the second and third to move ahead 10-0. They were up 11-0 through 3 1/2.
The Bullets scored their lone run with a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth.
Kane Kurtenbach walked, Gabriel Wounded Head singled and Kohji Numata walked to load the bases. Leadoff hitter Koby Bartels’ single plated Kurtenbach.
Post 15 added four runs in the top of the fifth to provide for the final margin.
Cayden Jacobsma had Brookings’ other hit.
Cole McElhany, the first of three Bullet pitchers, gave up six runs – four earned – on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in two innings in the loss.
Brookings committed five errors as nine of Sioux Falls East’s 15 runs were earned.

Game 2
• Sioux Falls East 14, Brookings 5 (5 inn.)
The Bullets scored one run in the first inning and four in the second to grab a 5-3 lead; however, Post 15 answered with eight runs in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to complete the sweep.
Bakker went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Glovich, who scored three times, and Benjamin Anderson, who doubled, added two hits and one RBI apiece. Winblade had two RBIs and three runs.
Luke Pullen gave up five runs – three earned – on one hit and four walks with four strikeouts over the first two innings to pick up the win. Brady Christoffels tossed three innings of scoreless ball, surrendering one hit and a walk while striking out five batters, to notch the save.
Jacob Vlaminck and Numata both collected a hit for Brookings.
Bartels scored twice and notched an RBI. Caden Wright, Kurtenbach and Tanner Huber each scored once.
Wounded Head, the second of four Bullet pitchers, took the loss after giving up seven runs – six earned – on four hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.
