The Bobcats wasted no time taking the lead. On the second play from scrimmage, Cole McKeown dashed 56 yards for a touchdown. The Bobcats were unable to convert the extra point try. The Warriors answered with a long scoring drive and converted the two-point conversion to take the 8-6 lead.

McKeown added another touchdown in the second quarter to give the Bobcats back the lead. Payton Theodosopoulos added the extra point to make the score 13-8. The Warriors put together another long drive to retake the lead. With the two-point conversion, the Warriors led 16-13.

The Bobcats put another drive together and scored right before halftime. Jake Ammann found the end zone on a 4-yard run and Theodosopoulos added the extra point. The Warriors threatened at the end of the quarter, but Gavin Fixsen intercepted a pass to bring the half to an end with Brookings ahead 20-16.

Both teams were unable to convert on their initial possessions of the second half. The Warriors later scored on a long run to take a 24-20 lead.

The Bobcats’ ensuing drive stalled and the Warriors’ offense threatened again; however, Derek Brallier intercepted a pass and returned the ball 65 yards. On the next play from scrimmage, McKeown added another touchdown from 9 yards out. The Bobcats led 26-24 entering the fourth quarter.

The Warriors scored early in the fourth quarter to take a 30-26 lead. The Bobcats were unable to move the ball on their next possession and Washington ran out the clock and take the victory.

Josh Devine led the Bobcat defense with six tackles. Zach Moe, Sam Hardin and Jett Leddy each chipped in with five stops.

The Bobcats racked up 300 yards of total offense, led by McKeown’s 211 yards rushing on 18 carries. Jaxon Bowes completed six passes for 51 yards. Brallier and Lincoln Hardin each had two catches.

Brookings (1-2) plays at Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
