VOLGA – The Sioux Valley boys’ basketball team capped a 15-5 regular season with a 76-39 defeat of Flandreau Indian School on Tuesday night.

VOLGA – The Sioux Valley boys’ basketball team capped a 15-5 regular season with a 76-39 defeat of Flandreau Indian School on Tuesday night.

The Cossacks led 21-12 after a quarter and 41-26 at halftime. They broke the game open in the third quarter, grabbing a 66-41 advantage.

Max Nielson scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He nailed six 3-pointers.

Ryan Schuster had 18 points and seven rebounds.

Trent Hiltunen added 11 points and Oliver Vincent 10.

The Indians got 12 points from Makonhs Stevens. He was 6-of-7 from the field and added seven boards.

FIS (5-14) opens the Region 2A Tournament on Tuesday.

Sioux Valley is host to a Region 2A semifinal game Friday, March 1.

COLMAN – The Hawks used a big second quarter to top the Flyers.

Up 7-6 after a quarter, Colman-Egan moved ahead 25-10 at halftime and led 35-21 through three.

Nate Tolley had 17 points and seven rebounds. Voelker added 13 points and nine boards.

Chase Hemmer added eight points and Ty Hiller six.

Colman-Egan outscored Chester 16-4 at the free-throw line.

The Flyers (6-14) shot 25 percent (13-of-53) from the field, including a 5-of-30 mark from 3-point range. Alex Tammen and Stratton Eppard both finished with nine points.

The Hawks (13-6) are host to West Central on Friday.

The Pheasants pulled away after the first quarter in the Big East Conference win over the Fliers.

Parker led 15-14 after 8 minutes, before moving ahead 29-21 at halftime and 51-31 after three.

Trey Christensen posted a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Pheasants (15-4, 6-1).

Camden Bialas had 14 points, five boards, four assists and seven blocked shots. Jackson Fiegen added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Pheasants shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) from the field, including 9-of-18 from 3-point range.

Flandreau’s Tash Lunday scored 23 points and grabbed five boards.

Connor LeBrun had 11 points and Nate Kneebone finished with 11 rebounds.

Flandreau (11-8, 4-3) is host to Dell Rapids on Friday.

BALTIC – The Fliers beat the Bulldogs in a BEC boys’ basketball game Monday.

Flandreau trailed 13-12 after a quarter but moved ahead 34-20 at halftime. The Fliers led 50-32 at the end of three.

Tash Lunday posted a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists and a pair of steals.

Connor LeBrun totaled 22 points, nice boards, seven dimes and two steals.

Nate Kneebone contributed 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
