Posted

The Sioux Valley competitive cheer team heads to Brandon Friday night for the 2021 State Comeptitive Cheer and Dance Competition.

The Cossacks have won 14 consecutive titles in Class A Competitive Cheer. They will go up against six teams in the large stunting and tumbling division. There are 22 teams overall.

Sioux Valley has won every Class A State Competition since it was adopted as a sport in 2007.

“I believe this is the most prepared team I have ever coached heading into a state tournament,” said Sioux Valley head coach Casie King. “We have been blessed with phenomenal athletes which has allowed us to fill our routine with creativity and high-level skills.  As always, our main focus is putting a routine on the floor that our athletes can be confident and proud of, and I know they will do just that.  I am always so impressed with the talent and work ethic this group of athletes bring to practice every day and I am excited to watch them go for that 15th title.”

The Class A Competition begins at 5:15 p.m. central time Friday at Brandon Valley High School.

The Cossacks are scheduled to take the floor at 7:19 p.m.

Other area schools in Class A include Deubrook Area and Elkton-Lake Benton. Deubrook is scheduled to start at 6:11 p.m. and ELB is scheduled to take the floor at 6:55 p.m.
