MADISON — The South Dakota Board of Regents selected new officers and met new regents at their meeting the Dakota State University campus in Madison on Wednesday.

Tim Rave of Baltic remains the board president, while Jeff Partridge of Rapid City was elected as the Vice President to fill the role vacated by former Regent Jim Thares.

The Board selected a newly appointed member, Doug Morrison, to serve as the secretary and sit on the Executive Committee.

This week’s meeting marks the first in-person board meeting for Regents Judy Dittman of Madison, Randy Frederick of Hayti, Jim Lochner of Dakota Dunes, Doug Morrison of Sioux Falls and Randy Rasmussen of Vermillion.

“As board president, I want to welcome our new members to the South Dakota Board of Regents,” regents president Tim Rave said in a statement. “We’re excited to have a full board and eager to get to work for the students of our state.”

In time for the meeting, Gov. Kristi Noem announced Dittman’s appointment to the Board of Regents. Dittman replaced Joan Wink, whose term recently expired.

According to the release from the governor’s office, Dittman earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in history from Black Hills State University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in health, physical education, and recreation from South Dakota State University and her Ph.D. in sport, health, leisure, and physical studies from the University of Iowa.

The Board of Regents now consists of nine members: Tim Rave, Brock Brown, Judy Dittman, Randy Frederick, James Lochner, Douglas Morrison, Jeff Partridge, Randy Rasmussen, and Pam Roberts.

The Regents meet again today.
