Squirt A wins tourney in Pierre; JV boys finish third

JV BOYS

Brookings went 2-1 and placed third in the Raider Cup Jr. Gold B Tournament.

The Rangers beat Hudson 8-0 in the first round Friday but fell 3-0 to Forest Lake in the semifinals Saturday. Brookings closed it out with a 6-3 defeat of Cloquet on Sunday.

 Brookings 8, Hudson 0

Seven different Rangers lit the lamp, as Trenton Pederson led the way with two goals and a pair of assists.

Jackson Law had a goal and an assist.

Brody Powers, Joseph Wu, Breck Hirrschoff, Jacob Drew and Trevor Pederson added goals. Cayden Jacobsma and Talon Richter had assists.

Third place

 Brookings 6, Cloquet 3

Trenton Pederson tallied two goals and an assist.

Powers totaled a goal and a pair of assists. Law was credited with one goal and one assist.

Drew and Isaac Schulte also found the back of the net. Isaac Dobesh had an assist.

BANTAM A

The Rangers went 2-2 in the BWW Woodchipper Bantam B Classic in Fargo over the weekend.

 Brookings 8, Roseville 0

Owen Schneider and Jacob Kahle both had two goals and an assist. Zach Struck also lit the lamp twice.

Ren Jacobsen and Luke Honkomp both tallied a goal and an assist.

Jacob Peterson picked up three helpers. Jack Merritt added an assist.

Goalie Egan Jensen had four saves to earn the shutout victory.

 Freeze Gray 8, Brookings 4

Peterson recorded a hat trick and Garrett Bothe also lit the lamp.

Schneider dished out three assists, Merritt two and Honkomp and Struck one apiece.

Jensen stopped 20 shots.

 Brookings 7, Brainerd 1

Struck racked up three goals and an assist. Schneider lit the lamp twice.

Merritt tallied two goals and an assist. Honkomp had one goal and one assist.

Peterson recorded two assists, with Kahle, David Brink and Eli Johnson each contributing one.

Jensen notched 22 saves.

 Moorhead Orange 3, Brookings 1

Merritt scored on assists from Bothe and Johnson.

Jensen had 20 saves.

BANTAM B

The Rangers finished 1-3 in the BWW Woodchipper Bantam B1 Classic in Fargo.

 West Fargo B1 8, Brookings 1

Spencer Heflin lit the lamp on Cooper Deatherage’s assist.

Nathan Brecher made 37 saves.

 Fargo Freeze Maroon 5, Brookings 4

Deatherage netted a hat trick and Heflin also found the back of the net.

Aidan Austreim, Jordan Raatz and Carson Odde tallied assists.

Brecher stopped 25 shots.

 Osseo-Maple Grove White 4, Brookings 1

Heflin lit the lamp.

Brecher had 27 saves.

 Brookings 4, Coon Rapids BB2 3

Raatz scored all four goals as the Rangers closed with a victory.

Jacob Law tallied a playmaker. Gavan Stewart, Austreim and Odde added assists.

Brecher earned the win in goal.

PEEWEE A

Brookings went 1-3 in the Moose Goheen Tournament in White Bear Lake.

 White Bear Lake Black 10, Brookings 0

Ryder Anderson recorded 26 saves for the Rangers, who finished with five shots on goal offensively.

 Andover 4, Brookings 1

Parker Nielsen scored on assists from Jackson Heller and Jay Harris.

Anderson stopped 31 shots.

 Brookings 5, Sibley 2

Four different Rangers lit the lamp.

Talon Hyde led the way with a pair of goals.

Harris (assist), Thor Kahler and Waylon Carroll also scored. Braden Dobesh and Cody Jacobson added goals.

Anderson made 21 saves.

 Eastview 3, Brookings 1

Heller found the back of the net, as Riley Linstad and Hyde assisted.

Anderson made 10 saves.

The Rangers fired 43 shots.

SQUIRT A

The Rangers posted a 4-0 record and won the Tyler Wilcox Tournament over the weekend in Pierre.

Jack Lovseth earned the Sportsmanship Award for Brookings.

 Brookings 10, Huron 1

The Rangers pulled away with eight goals in the final period.

Lovseth finished with two goals and two assists.

Cade Zweber (assist), Maxten Jensen and Mason Diers each lit the lamp twice.

Colin Jacobson and Carter Nielsen added goals. Colt Vanmaanen dished out a pair of assists.

Neil Trygstad made nine saves.

 Brookings 5, Watertown 0

Lovseth scored two more goals, with Zweber tallying a goal and a pair of assists.

Ethan Foerster and Mauer Bartley netted goals.

Maxx Anderson, Nolan Krogram and Jensen had assists.

Trygstad stopped six shots to tally the shutout.

 Brookings 3, Oahe 2

Foerster’s goal with 7:08 remaining put the Rangers ahead 3-1.

Bartley lit the lamp in the first and Foerster scored in the second to make it 2-0.

Trygstad stopped 10 shots.

Championship

 Brookings 6, Huron 1

Foerster recorded a hat trick to lead the way in the final.

Bartley, Diers and Lovseth also scored.

Atwood Ahmann, Cannon Friedrich, Nielsen and Jensen logged assists.

Trygstad tallied eight saves.

SQUIRT B

Brookings went 0-3-1 at the Tyler Wilcox Tournament.

Jon Drew earned the Sportsmanship Award for Brookings.

 Rushmore 13, Brookings 2

Teagan Moad and Isaac Andal had goals for Brookings.

 Watertown 10, Brookings 5

Moad lit the lamp four times and Andal had the other tally.

Un-hyeng Keay and Landon Schumacher both found the back of the net.

 Huron 8, Brookings 2

Andal and Beau Luvass scored.
