Tammy Sue Vedvei, 48, of Brookings, died in her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017.

Memorials may be directed to Brookings Health System Hospice or the Brookings Regional Humane Society.

Tammy Sue McMasters was born March 10, 1969, in Lake Preston to Loren and Carolyn (Stricker) McMasters.  Tammy attended Lake Preston High School and graduated in 1987.  She then attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, graduating with a degree in fashion merchandizing in 1988.

That June she married Charles Vedvei and together they had three children; Samuel Charles on Jan, 23, 1990, Morgan Marie on Nov. 9, 1992 and Tristan Michael on Aug. 12, 1997.

After her divorce from Charles, she moved to Brookings and attended SDSU, where she graduated with her degree in sociology.  Here she met Todd Voss, and together they had Ashton Tyler on Dec. 16, 2006, and have enjoyed the past 19 years living in Brookings and attending SDSU sporting events.

Besides attending the Jacks games, Tammy was always going to all her children’s sporting events, reading a good book or cooking.  During the summer, her free time was spent at her cabin on Lake Thompson fishing or enjoying the sun with her family or friends, and in the winter months she enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Mexico.  Tammy’s greatest joys were spending time with her new grandson, children, family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Samuel Vedvei (Dena Reiff), Morgan Vedvei (Brad Saathoff), Tristan Vedvei (Kaetlin Goergen) and Ashton Voss; her grandson; her partner, Todd Voss and his children, Kalani and Sajen Perry; her sisters, Stacey (Bruce) Bebo and Nicole (Dustin) Nelson and her parents, Loren and Carolyn McMasters and an abundance of relatives.

Tammy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Verla McMasters, Dale and Doreen Stricker and Keith Baumberger and her great grandparents, Edith and Edward Boyd and Ethel and Kenneth Baumberger.

Tammy’s family said they would like to extend their gratitude to Brookings Health System Hospice for their wonderful care and support during this difficult time.
