After a scoreless first, Josh Boyer got Brookings on the scoreboard less than 3 minutes into the second as Vince Marino and Doug Larson set up the goal.
Max Sasson’s goal midway through the second off a Tyler Hinterser helper pushed the Blizzard lead to 2-0 before Connor Koviak lit the lamp less than two minutes later off Josh Boyer’s assist for a three-goal advantage.
The Wilderness scored with less than 2 minutes to play in the period, but Marino answered just 26 seconds later as Boyer and Koviak picked up assists for the 4-1 lead heading into the third.
Midway through the final frame, the Wilderness scored two goals in less than a minute to get within one, and then, tied the game with 14 seconds remaining to force overtime.
