HARRISBURG – Sydney Wirebaugh fired a 1-over-par 73 to earn medalist honors and lead four Golden Eagles in the top five as Aberdeen Central rolled to the team title during the Eastern South Dakota Conference Girls’ Golf Tournament on Thursday at Spring Creek.
Aberdeen Central shot 306. Yankton (335) was second and Pierre (345) third.
Brookings ended up in ninth following a 423.
The Golden Eagles’ Cassidy Gough was runner-up at 3-over 75.
Brandon Valley’s Liz Duncan (76) and Yankton’s Peyton Tramp (78) placed third and fourth, respectively.
Aberdeen Central’s Danielle Podoll and Brooklyn Hofer finished in a tie for fifth with the Gazelles’ Morgan Strahl at 79.
Nicole Steen paced the Bobcats with a 98, as she finished in a tie for 37th.
Ashton Austreim (100) tied for 43rd, Macey Fields (104) took 45th and Janaya Kuehl (121) ended up 47th to complete the team score.
Also for Brookings, Janaya Kuehl (121) was 47th and Morgan Herold (130) 48th.
The Class AA State Girls’ Golf Tournament is Monday, June 4-Tuesday, June 5 at Moccasin Creek in Aberdeen.
