BROOKINGS – The Brookings Fire Department was called to a fire at a laundromat at 324 Medary Ave. on Wednesday, according to Fire Chief Pete Bolzer.

The fire was reported at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, and crews cleared the scene at 3:26 p.m., Bolzer said in an email to the Register Thursday.

Six fire apparatus were on scene, and Brookings Police and Brookings Ambulance also responded, Bolzer said.

“Fire originated in and was contained to a commercial clothes dryer. Only light smoke damage to building. Traffic on Medary Avenue was shut down due to congestion in the area of the incident,” Bolzer wrote.

There were no injuries or damage estimate, he added.
