Building compassion and understanding

Along with our Hobo Flop Fundraiser starting on Sept. 13.

In September, Margo’s Place is focusing on bullying awareness and suicide prevention, even though October is the recognized national month for bullying awareness.

By emphasizing this issue locally, we aim to lead by example for the younger generation as the school year begins.

Let’s demonstrate responsible citizenship by standing up for those in need and speaking out against injustice. Join us in advocating for equality among our youth and offering support to those in need of a friend.

Studies have shown that survivors of domestic violence have higher rates of suicidal thoughts, with up to 23% of survivors having attempted suicide, compared to 3% among individuals without prior exposure to domestic violence.

Remember, you never know what challenges someone is facing or what it’s like to be in their shoes, so kindness is key. Not everyone returns home to happiness.

Compassion and understanding can be powerful tools in making a difference. By fostering an environment where every individual feels valued and heard, we can collectively diminish the isolation and pain that often accompany bullying and domestic violence.

Here at Margo’s Place, we offer various resources and programs designed to empower and support our community members. From supportive listening services to educational discussions, we strive to provide a safe space for healing and growth.

We believe that change begins with awareness and action. Every small step towards kindness and empathy contributes to a larger movement towards a more inclusive and supportive society. Let’s work together to create a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and loved. Remember, a simple act of kindness can change someone’s entire day, and potentially, their entire life. Thank you for being a part of this crucial cause.

And remember if you or someone you know is experiencing abuse and need support in the next steps, please give us a call 605-692-7233 where there is an advocate waiting to take your call 24/7.
