CHESTER – The Flyers got out to the early lead and limited Arlington to single-digit scoring in all four quarters to post a 49-27 nonconference girls’ basketball win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night.
Chester Area tripled Arlington’s output in the first quarter – 18-6 – on the way to a 28-11 halftime lead. The Flyers increased their advantage to 44-15 through three as they leveled their record to 9-9 on the season.
Makenna Larson scored 14 points and Jadon Wages added nine for Chester Area.
Hadley Carlson’s 11 points led Arlington, which fell to 9-9.
Both teams close out their regular season this week as the Flyers travel to Beresford on Friday and the Cardinals play host to Dell Rapids St. Mary on Saturday at 1 p.m.
• Arlington 47, Colman-Egan 45
COLMAN – Arlington used a 19-9 second-quarter surge to take a 27-15 halftime lead over the Hawks, and then, held on in the second half for the 47-45 Dakota Valley Conference win on Monday night.
The Cardinals were up 8-6 after a quarter and still led 38-32 through three as they improved to 9-8 overall and evened their conference record at 4-4.
Jeryn Christensen scored 15 points to lead Arlington, while Hadley Carlson added 10 and Marissa Baker chipped in with eight.
Mackenzie Hemmer’s 18 points and nine rebounds led Colman-Egan, which dropped to 8-9 and 4-3 in the DVC. Katie Hannasch contributed nine points and Braiden Westley finished with eight for the Hawks.
Colman-Egan plays host to Lake Preston on Thursday.
