BROOKINGS – First responders were called to a near-drowning on Saturday, according to Brookings Police.
The incident was reported around 5:14 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
“Officers and the Brookings Ambulance responded to the 2500 block of Sixth Street for a report of a child drowning and that CPR was in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that the child was breathing,” Gebers said.
“The child was transported to the Brookings hospital by ambulance. Child was 4 years old,” Gebers said.
