BROOKINGS — Mama T. Rex and her son Max, the Children’s Museum of South Dakota’s life-size animatronic dinosaurs, have something to roar about … summer.

Dinosaur Day: June 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. Take part in all sorts of dinosaur activities all day long including dino-mite art, dinosaur games, dino-tale storytime, dino yoga, a dino dance party, and more.

Dinosaur Day started as a social media holiday and the children’s museum was inspired to turn it into an in-person celebration. Museum staff will also be armed with dinosaur jokes and facts.

Agriculture Day: June 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. Celebrate Agriculture Week with the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, Hungry for Truth, and South Dakota Soybean Checkoff. In addition to the museum exhibits, this event will include interactive activities and opportunities to learn more about the farmers who bring your food from farm to table including a Make Your Own Playdough activity. This event is sponsored by Hungry for Truth and South Dakota Soybean Checkoff.

Special Monday Open: June 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will be open on Juneteenth.

Sensory Friendly Play: This event is specially designed for children, adults, and families who will benefit from expanded accessibility and sensory accommodations. Service providers and therapists are welcome to accompany students/clients. Sensory Friendly Play takes place the second Friday of every month from 5-8 pm.

Open Late on Tuesdays: The museum is open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays through summer.

Regular admission rates apply ($9.50 for those ages 1 and up) and reservations are not required.
