SIOUX FALLS – The ‘Chutes and Sioux Falls Post 15 West 16U split a Junior Legion baseball doubleheader Wednesday.
Brookings (4-13) competes in the Renner Tournament beginning Friday.
Game 1
• Sioux Falls West 5, Brookings 1
Carson Devericks pitched a three-hitter, allowing one run – unearned – with four strikeouts and a walk, and Ben Simonsen went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to lead Sioux Falls West.
Caden McKeown, Rhett Zelinsky and Brock Luze each singled for Brookings.
Christian Mediger pitched 2 2/3 innings while taking the loss.

Parker Rykhus finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs to pace the ‘Chutes.
Daniel MEsserly was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Caden McKeown, Tanner Shepardson and Zelinsky added an RBI apiece.
Trevor Berreth earned the win on the mound after allowing six runs on 13 hits with two strikeouts and a walk over five innings.
