City marks Brookings Health System Week

BROOKINGS – Brookings Mayor Keith Corbett has proclaimed May 18-25 as Brookings Health System Week in the City of Brookings.

The proclamation mentions the health system’s most recent quality achievements, including being named to the National Rural Health Association’s (NRHA) Top 20 list for the third time in four years and ranking in the top one percent of all rural and community hospitals. In addition, it also notes the quality achievements of The Neighborhoods at Brookview which has had an overall 5-Star rating since 2013 and nationally ranks in the top five percent of nursing homes.

“Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we would have been recognized at an awards ceremony during the NRHA’s Rural Hospital Innovation Summit this Thursday, May 21,” said CEO Jason Merkley. “Mayor Corbett’s proclamation gives us a way to recognize our team’s achievements during a time when we cannot gather socially to celebrate our success. We thank him, the City of Brookings, and all of our wonderful community members who have shown their support to the health system and our team members during these past few months.”

The public is also encouraged to help recognize the accomplishments of Brookings Health System’s team by leaving a positive comment on Google at https://g.page/BrookingsHealth/review?rc. After visiting the link, participants should log in to their Google account, write their comment and push post.
