ESTELLINE — A collision Thursday afternoon near Estelline involving agricultural equipment sent one person to a hospital with injuries, according to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident, which happened around 4:30 p.m., involved a grain cart and grain truck. It occurred at 195th Street and 461st Avenue, about 4 miles southwest of Estelline.

In a Friday phone conversation with the Brookings Register, representatives with the sheriff’s office said the injured person, who was driving the grain truck, was taken by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. The tractor driver, who was pulling the cart, wasn’t injured. The sheriff’s office also noted that no damage estimates were available on Friday.

In its news release, the sheriff’s office wrote that a westbound tractor pulling a grain cart went through a stop sign and was in the intersection when a southbound grain truck collided with the cart. The grain truck then went into the ditch and collided with some trees. The grain cart flipped onto its side at the intersection, blocking the road.
