Gale Thomassen, 77, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at his home with his family at his side.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Sioux Falls. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 4- 6 pm with a liturgical wake service beginning at 6 p.m., at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls.
Burial with military honors is at 9 a.m. Tuesday, at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thomassen of Brookings; their children, Teresa (Dean) Hillberg of Colton, Carl (Carol) Thomassen of Tea, Becky (Brian) O’Hara of Sioux Falls, Dan (Trish) Thomassen ]of Tea, Barbara Thomassen-Reisetter of Brookings, Kristen (Brad) Knight of St Augustine, Florida; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Thomassen of Maricopa, California; brother, Anthony Thomassen of Forney, Texas and a host of additional relatives and friends.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Palmer Thomassen and Beryl (Rodvold) Thomassen; sister, Shelia Burke.
