ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State center Gus Miller received Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week accolades after anchoring a Jackrabbit unit that paved the way for numerous season highs in a Hobo Day victory last week.
A senior from Brookings, Miller graded at 90 percent and recorded five pancake blocks as SDSU rushed for 404 yards in a 63-13 victory over Youngstown State on Oct. 12. The Jackrabbits totaled 557 yards of offense and allowed only one tackle for loss in the game en route to averages of 16.2 yards per rush and 13 yards per play.
SDSU’s rushing total was its highest since racking up 446 yards on the ground in a 2021 FCS playoff game against UC Davis.
Miller is the second Jackrabbit to earn an award from the MVFC this week, joining Special Teams Player of the Week Angel Johnson. In addition, Miller is the second from SDSU to receive the weekly offensive lineman honor in 2024 after Evan Beerntsen was named the recipient following the Jackrabbits’ Sept. 7 home opener versus Incarnate Word.
Top-ranked South Dakota State travels to No. 2 North Dakota State this Saturday. Kickoff for the annual Dakota Marker game is slated for 7 p.m. at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
