Jacks dominate at USD

VERMILLION – The South Dakota State women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams won the USD Tri-Duals Saturday afternoon with both squads defeating South Dakota and St. Cloud State.

The women’s team topped USD, 121.5-119.5 and SCSU, 137-106. The men dropped the Coyotes, 132.5-110.5 and the Huskies, 156-87.

“It was a really good weekend for both teams,” head coach Doug Humphrey said. “We learned a lot about what this team is made of. They faced adversity on both squads and made a choice to overcome obstacles to come out on top. I know the future is going to be bright for both the men and women.”

Divers claim points

Emily Moore placed second in the 1-meter (247.85) and third in the 1-meter with a score of 242.90.

Joseph Weber won the 1-meter on the men’s side with a 312.00.

Jacks dominate

Rori Conners won the 1650 freestyle with a career-best 17:37.61 and the 500 freestyle (5:07.36)

Austin Pham touched first in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:09.47

Christopher Rumrill and Ben Sieve came in second and third in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:45.77 and 1:46.59, respectively

Kristin Erf tied for first in the 50 freestyle (24.48) and won the 200 breaststroke (2:25.37)

Richelle Bruyckere placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:55.90) and in the 100 freestyle (54.19)

Wyatt Rumrill tied for first in the 200 IM (1:59.08), Austin Pham and Jacob Sutej followed behind in third and fourth, respectively

Cody Watkins won the 200 butterfly with a career-best 1:57.83

Senior Daniel Jacobson finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.34 and in the 100 freestyle (46.70)

Up Next:  SDSU travels to Columbia, Mo. Nov. 16-18 for the Mizzou Invite.
