Kniesche repeats as Summit League Pitcher of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - South Dakota State senior Tori Kniesche was recognized by The Summit League on Monday as the TicketSmarter Peak Pitcher of the Week. Kniesche was rewarded with the honor for the second consecutive week and for the third time during the 2024 season.

Kniesche went 2-0 this past week while the Jackrabbits earned a three-game sweep over North Dakota in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

In the first game of the series against the Fighting Hawks, Kniesche recorded her third complete-game shutout in as many starts. The SDSU pitcher struck out 14 batters and gave up four hits and only two walks. She allowed only two base runners through the first three frames, both walks, and the final three batters of the third each went down swinging.

Kniesche topped her game one performance in the third game of the series. The Wayne, Neb., native hit two batters, but it’d be the only two base runners allowed in a five-inning affair. Kniesche struck out 10 batters on just 62 pitches. She completed her third no-hitter showing in her last four appearances and pitched the 10th no-hitter of her college career.

The SDSU program record holder in career wins has a 10-5 record on the season and has a 2.17 ERA.

The South Dakota State softball team is scheduled to continue Summit League play this weekend. The Jackrabbits are slated to host Kansas City in Brookings at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium from April 6-7.
