WHITE – A man died after being shot in a bowhunting accident near White on Friday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at 8:48 a.m. Friday in a field west of 482nd Avenue and south of 205th Street, southeast of White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
Multiple agencies “responded to a hunting accident involving two men that were bowhunting turkeys. It was found that 62-year-old Mark Steinborn of Sioux Falls, S.D., had been accidently shot with an arrow by his 29-year-old son Gabriel Steinborn, also of Sioux Falls, S.D.,” Sebring said.
“Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene but were unsuccessful. The incident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office,” Sebring said.
Also responding were the White Ambulance, Brookings Ambulance, and South Dakota Game Fish and Parks.
