BROOKINGS - For the second night in a row, the third period cost the Blizzard in a 5-2 Central Division loss to Minot.
Trailing 2-1 entering the third, Brookings gave up three straight goals in an 8 1/2 minute span to drop to 2-9-1-1 on the season.
The Minotauros scored the only goal of the first period as Kyle Oleksiuk lit the lamp 6 1/2 minutes into play.
The Blizzard tied the game early in the second period when John Kalijian beat Minot goalie Ben Garrity off assists from Vince Marino and Luke Aquaro.
After killing a Minot power-play chance midway through the second, Brookings gave up a goal seconds later after David Raisanen deflected a shot past Blizzard goalie Jack Caruso to give the Minotauros a 2-1 lead through two.
Taylor Lantz’ goal with 13:59 to play in the game pushed the visitors’ lead to 3-1, before Didrik Henbrandt tallied back-to-back goals 5 minutes apart to make it 5-1 with 5:35 left.
Brookings’ Carter Krogman provided for the final margin with 1:12 on the clock on a power-play goal with the assists going to David Israel and Brock Draeger.
