BROOKINGS – The Minotauros scored five goals in the third period to overcome a 3-1 de cit and post a 6-3 win over the Blizzard in NAHL Central Division action on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.
Connor Koviak lit the lamp twice in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the opening period before Keenan Lund cut the lead in half inside of 30 seconds to play as Brookings led 2-1 after the first 20 minutes. Carson Kosobud assisted on Koviak’s first goal while Josh Boyer and Vince Marino set up the second.
Ryan Dickinson’s unassisted tally with 1:42 left in the second gave the Blizzard a 3-1 advantage heading into the third period.
The lead held up for half of the final frame before Grant Loven found the back of the net with 9:36 to play; and then, Michael Talbot tied the game with 8:32 on the clock.
Ryker Cole gave Minot a 4-3 lead inside of six minutes and Fritz Belisle scored on an empty net with 1:23 to play for a 5-3 Minotauros’ advantage.
Ondrej Pavel netted an insurance goal with 8 seconds left as fifth-place Minot improved to 48-20-4-2 with 48 points.
The Blizzard have 42 points, courtesy of an 18-25-2-4 mark, and are in sixth in the standings.
The teams square off again tonight at LIC. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
