South Dakota State women’s basketball’s Paige Meyer and Tori Nelson were named to the 2023-24 Summit League Women’s Basketball Academic All-League team Monday.
Meyer, the Summit League Women’s Basketball Championship MVP, carries a 3.97 GPA in Business Economics. The All-Summit League first team recipient averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 51.1 percent from the field in her junior season.
Nelson, the Summit League Women’s Basketball Scholar of the Championship, holds a 4.0 while studying Exercise Science and Community and Public Health. She garnered All-Defensive team honors and averaged 7.9 point, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks during her final season as a Jackrabbit. This is the second Academic All-League recognition of her career.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team’s competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league’s nine institutions and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). The team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
