CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers signed former South Dakota State running back and Brookings native Mikey Daniel Tuesday.
The organization signed Daniel as a fullback. Daniel participated in Atlanta Falcons training camp in 2020, but did not play in any games.
This does not mean Daniel is on the Panthers 53-man roster. He will still have to battle it out in training camp to earn that spot.
Daniel ran for 1,728 yards and had 30 total touchdowns during his time at SDSU. He went undrafted last season.
He joins tight end Dallas Goedert, offensive tackle Bryan Witzmann and cornerback Jordan Brown as SDSU players that are on NFL rosters.
Goedert was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 and Witzmann plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. Brown signed with the Washington Football Team’s practice squad Nov. 2, 2020, and then signed a reserves/futures contract Jan. 2.
