Brookings resident Paul Hanson will entertain the Brookings Wildlife Federation with his hunting stories.

BWF will meet on March 1 at noon at the Brookings County Outdoor Adventure Center, 2810 22nd Ave. Linda Vaa will again provide a lunch for a freewill donation.

Hanson is an avid duck hunter with a passion for hunting and learning about all types of animals all around the world.

Hanson has hunted in 13 U.S. states, nine Canadian provinces, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, Argentina, South Africa and Zimbabwe. His talk will focus on hunting grizzly bear, musk ox and African lion.

Hanson said he grew up hunting as a small kid alongside his father in northwest Iowa. He moved to Alaska for a time. He has lived the last 17 years in South Dakota, with the last eight being in Brookings.

“Paul has a trophy room that is by far the best I have ever seen,” said BWF president Bob Kurtz. The trophy room is set up in Hanson's home and includes identification and explanation cards for the various animals. He opens up the trophy room for school students to visit.

The BWF is affiliated with the South Dakota Wildlife Federation and the National Wildlife Federation. For more information, contact Kurtz at 605-695-1361.
