Pearl Weenink, 80, of Hendricks, Minnesota, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at the Hendricks Hospital.
Following Pearl’s wishes, a private family service will take place Aug. 13, 2018. Burial will be in the Hendricks City Cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pearl Joan Weenink was born Jan. 17, 1938, to Carl and Hilda (Nordaune) Engesmoe in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm north of Hendricks.
Pearl was baptized and confirmed at Singsaas Lutheran Church. She attended school at District No. 42, north of Hendricks, and graduated from Hendricks High School.
Pearl was the youngest of 10 children. She was only 18 months old when her mother died. She was very fortunate to belong to a loving father and siblings. They all cared deeply for each other.
After graduation, Pearl moved to Akron, Iowa, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Ron.
They were married on Oct. 28, 1961. Ron died in 1989. Pearl remained in Sioux City until 2011, at which time, she moved back to Hendricks, Minnesota.
Survi-vors include her brothers, Henry Engesmoe and Joseph (Helen) Engesmoe of Hendricks; sisters, Helen Moffatt of Akron, Iowa, Opal (Chester) Benson of Clear Lake and Marcella Sommervold of Hendricks; sister-in-law, Irene Engesmoe of Hendricks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her in-laws, Clarence and Ethal; brother, Clifford; sisters, Gelina Judith, Gelina, and June Marcella; brother-in-laws, Orris Olson, Harold Moffatt, and Kenneth Sommervold; sister-in-law, Ruth Engesmoe; niece, Twyla Engesmoe; and nephew, Carroll Engesmoe.
