Phil was a brilliant writer, carpenter, friend to anyone he met, known for living the path less traveled.
A 1979 SDSU grad, he purchased the newspaper in Gary, SD where he and Mary Burkman raised four accomplished daughters: Jael (Brian) Thorpe, Bethany (Stephen) Seiter, Lydia (Cyrus) Gust and Abigail (Coltin) Brandenburger and 14 grandchildren inherited his creativity, passion and love for the Lord.
