Raiders top Dolphins 32-14

WHITE – Oldham-Ramona/Rutland beat Deubrook Area 32-14 in a season-opening Dakota Valley Conference football game Friday night at W.H. White Field.

Daniel Jaton rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Brandon Trygstad went 11-of-14 for 186 yards with a score through the air while also running for a TD.

Both teams found the end zone on their first two possessions.

The Dolphins’ Trace Vierhuf, who finished with 108 yards on the ground, scored from a yard out midway through the opening period. Tyler Berndt ran in the two-point conversion.

Jaton plunged in from a yard out late in the period.

Berndt then raced into the end zone on a keeper. The 1-yard TD run came at the 4:39 mark of the second.

Jaton added a 10-yard scamper 2:06 before halftime. Trygstad found Will Matson on the two-pointer to knot things up at 14-all.

Matson intercepted a pass late in the half.

Tygstad bulled his way to paydirt from the 1-yard-line less than 3 minutes into the third quarter.

Seth DeVaney then forced a fumble in the backfield and the Raiders recovered.

Tygstad connected with Orion Albertson for a 54-yard touchdown at the 6:12 mark of the third, making it 26-14.

In the fourth, Matson caught a 10-yard TD toss from Trygstad with 3:59 showing on the clock. Matson totaled 86 yards on seven receptions.

Berndt ran for 67 yards and was 3-of-6 for 32 yards passing.

ORR is host to Great Plains Lutheran in Rutland and Deubrook heads to Florence to face Florence/Henry next week.

DELL RAPIDS – The Cardinals topped the Redhawks in the DVC matchup to get the season underway.

DRSM is host to Castlewood and Estelline/Hendricks welcomes Alcester-Hudson on Friday.
