SIOUX FALLS/BROOKINGS – The Ranger boys beat the Flyers 3-2 on the road Saturday, while the girls fell 8-0 at home on Friday to open the SDAHA season.
Saturday – Boys
Max Kjelden netted a natural hat trick in the third period as the Rangers topped the Flyers 3-2.
He netted the game-winner with 27 seconds left on assists from Wes Koenig and Ashton Witte.
He got Brookings on the board with 13:45 left on an Ike Johnson assist and pulled the Rangers even on Witte’s helper with 3 minutes showing on the clock.
Sioux Falls’ Austin Rosenbaum lit the lamp late in the first period and Garett Everson found the back of the net on a power play in the second.
Kade Brecher stopped 17 shots to earn the win between the pipes.
Friday – Girls
Brooke Jarman netted a hat trick to lead the Flyers.
